We had the honor and privilege of photographing our service men & women at the recent Cavalry Ball on Friday, November 16th. The Ball was a great success, and there were many very friendly & fun people that we met throughout the night. We will have 1-2 more updates to this site showing the photos from the evening. Just met up with Matthew on Saturday for his Anchorage High School Senior Pictures at Lousac Library. It was a great time b/c Matthew was such a chilled person. I really enjoyed how friendly he and his mother, Deanna, were. They even hooked me up with a nice pair of gloves so that my fingers wouldn’t freeze! I was amazed at how well Matthew held up in the cold, no complaining or anything. =) I have found that I do not like the stiff robotic look that some poses can create, and he did a great job of moving into nice modeling naturally, that didn’t look like a robot. He made it fun, and as I always tell people, the more fun you have, the more fun the photos are. =)
Here’s the photos from a recent Anchorage High School Senior Pictures / Graduation Portrait session. Ashley’s Portraits turned out great. She was a very sweet person with a great family that came along for the shoot. Last Weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Jessica, who is a High School Senior out in the Valley. She was very easy going & knew great ways to pose. It was fun working with her & I loved the variety of photos we had. I love the variety between glasses and no glasses, as it provides a nice contrast in the pictures, but shows more of who she is.
In February, I had the blessing of being a part of Kate’s wedding on 20 mile Creek just between Girdwood and Portage. We started out in Girdwood by catching a ride on a helicopter over the mountains of the Chugach Mountains. The experience was amazing! Originally, the wedding photography was going to be in March with a more typical wedding and reception, but as the day came, pressure mounted, and Kate and her husband (fiance’ at the time) decided to forget the ceremony in a chapel in lieu of a wedding of a life time! Here’s a little sampling of the wedding.
Because of the coldness of the wind & the February weather, the ceremony was so fast that I literally blinked & it was over! I think it lasted no more than 5 mins with a few quick pictures. Unfortunately, because of the wind and cold, we didn’t get many photos taken at the location of the ceremony. We did make up for it, with photos back at helicopter landing site. Being my first experience with a helicopter wedding, I was surprised at how challenging it was to take great photos in the helicopter. The pilot reminded me several times not to touch the plexiglass because it could leave a scratch. The object to get wide angles, but avoid the details of inside the helicopter was quite challenging. I decided that to give the wedding more of a photojournalism look, that I really liked showing the instruments, and internal designs of the helicopter.

This was one of my favorite portrait sessions. I love how personable their young ~9 month old Micah was. His expressions are priceless, and the pictures show the joy for life that he has! He loved to stick out his tongue…a lot! My favorite baby photos are the ones of Micah with mom and dad absorbing the love given to him.

Had the pleasure of taking some engagement photos of a fun and goofy couple at the museum in Anchorage, Alaska. I had so much fun as they made the experience super enjoyable for both them and myself. It was great to see what I tell people that the more fun they have, the more fun the photos are!
This was a fun a Anchorage family portrait / maternity photoshoot with a family expecting their 2nd kiddo. We had the family and maternity photoshoot at the Anchorage museum. They had some neat ideas they wanted done, which I incorporated into the ideas I already had. Their daughter was very shy, but such a sweet, cute girl that made the photos so precious. I really liked how warm and friendly they were and wish them the best with their newest little one!
